Getting Started
What is the best first event if I am completely new?
Start with a Wednesday mini tri in Bairnsdale or Sale. They are the easiest way to learn transition, pacing and race-night flow without the pressure of a big standalone event.
Do I need to be fit before I turn up?
No. The mini tri format is built for all levels of experience, and the club’s PB-based points system is about improving your own time, not matching someone else’s background or training history.
How early should I arrive?
Aim for 20 to 30 minutes before you expect to race. Mini tri registration opens from 5:30pm, which gives you time to check in, set up gear in transition and hear the race briefing.
What should I bring to my first race?
Bring swimmers, goggles, bike, helmet, runners, a towel and a drink bottle. You do not need fancy equipment to get started.
